I have looked at tons of video and websites that tell you how to unlock your wii and found a great way to do it in about 5 minutes. I am going to write a honest review of a download I found that works without turning your wii into a brick. The easiest software I found was “my home brew ware”

So why am I writing this blog? Well the truth is that I am a total spaz when it comes to taking things apart and putting them back together correctly. My friends are always on my back about this. I usually have to call a friend to come over and fix something for me. I once took apart my computer to install a sound card and even though it was a simple plug and play I could not seem to get the case back on, embarrassing I know, I called a friend to come fix it before my parents got home and saw this mess in my room.
So for those who want to know what a unlocked wii can do here is a sample list of the power your wii has once you apply this simple wii soft mod.
I am sure I might miss a few things so further down I have a video link. Anyway here are few things a unlocked wii can do.
Play DVD’s I have no idea why Nintendo did not add this simple feature but if you unlock your wii this feature is now enabled.
Play home brew games. Home brew games are fun and addictive there are hundreds to choose from and more added everyday.
Best of all there are 100′s of free titles
Play MP3 files, turn your wii into a music server , you can even play radio.
Play imported games, my home brew software makes your wii region free.
Play classic games from older game platforms. this software comes with a emulator instructions that allows you to play older Nintendo , sega, sega genesis, N64 and many other game platforms. this allows you to play 1000′s of classic games. I don’t use this feature much but my dad loves it, he plays the old Williams game called Defender all the time. My Mom loves the classic Mrs. Packman.

When I started to search for ways to get the most out of my wii I spent hours looking at videos and software downloads that looked a little out of my league, I was worried abut voiding the warranty and even worse turning my wii into a expensive door stop (other wise know as “bricking it”). Everyone in the family uses it and it’s really not even mine, my dad bought it for the family but mostly for my little sister.
I also wanted something that came with decent support and had been proven to work. A friend of mine downloaded some free software to mod his wii from a share site that not only crashed his wii ,but crashed his computer because it had a Trojan virus embedded in it that infected his computer when he logged into a site that this “free” software recommended he go for a update.
The software I found was so simple that I thought I would blog about it for those of use that don’t want to take things apart or risk a free download that could cause problems.
This software is very easy. All you need is a SD card, most of us have them already , I used the one in my digital camera, if you don’t have one they are about 5 bucks . If you have a DVD burner there is also a bonus software included that allows you to copy and back up your games.
It took me about 20 minutes to do everything instructed because I wanted to make sure I did nothing wrong, but it’s really easy. All I did was copy a file to a sd card ,put the card into the wii slot and clicked a few buttons. Anyone can do this in about 5 minutes but since I am klutzy I watched the instruction videos 2 or three times over. There are ton’s of free bonus material and complete video instructions that make everything easy and you can download it right now. The video instructions make everything so easy.
Since I promised to be honest, the downside is that there have been some reports that this software may have a issue with future updates to the wii console causing a conflict. I have not seen any problems yet and the maker of the software gives lifetime upgrades in case there is ever a problem.
